You can guarantee that the members of CVSCC are fans of all types of automotive racing. Some types of racing are preferred over others. Either way when it comes down to it, we respect competitive racing, and driver control.
Drag Racing
Ice Racing
In the past CVSCC hosted ice racing events on the frozen lakes in the Chippewa Valley. Although CVSCC does not currently host ice racing events, there are still a few opportunities around if you are willing to travel.
Road Racing
Road Racing is a CVSCC favorite. BIR, USAIR, and Road America are the usual road course we would attend. The frequency of these events are usually limited, mostly because of the distance. We typically plan to caravan together for a race, or for spectating a special event at any one of these tracks.

Autocross
Autocross plays a big part of CVSCC. CVSCC puts on two events a year in the Eau Claire, WI area.
If you are new to autocross, you are more than welcome to give it a try and you will find most others will be glad to give you advice. Don't worry about what class your car should be in, you are a novice so there is a class just for you - simply signup in the 'Novice (N)' class. Only go as fast as you are comfortable, it's more important to go through the course slow and steady than fast and miss gates or hit many cones.
Autocross is a timed precision driving event, not a drifting or simply a fastest time event. Similar cars are grouped into classes and the driver with the fastest time with the least amount of cones hit (cones add to your time and missed gates nullify that run) is the winner for that class. While cars are classed with other similar cars, the 'PAX/RTP Index Values' provide a multiplier to arrive at a PAX time for all vehicles to be compared and provide a better way to compare driver skills. This means the driver in a family sedan could have a better PAX time than a driver in setup race car who had a faster raw time.
Helmets are required (Snell 2020 or newer), but typically loaner helmets will be made available if you do not have one or if yours does not meet the safety requirements on inspection. Autocross events are run rain or shine, dress appropriately as you will also be asked to help out when not driving. The most important thing to remember is to just be safe and have a good time.
Drag Racing
- Rock Falls Raceway is a popular drag strip for Western WI. Some of our members like to run their car and see what it can cover in the 1/4 mile.
